In pharmacogenetics, genetic typing is used to determine a patient's likely response to drugs, and create a personalized drug regime that maximizes efficacy while minimizing side effects. But, as medicine becomes more personalized, the range of customers for each drug will narrow, forcing producers to raise prices dramatically.
