Half-way to where?

This is half-way between Bulawayo in Zimbabwe and the South African border. It must have been built in the time of dirt roads and cars with crank handles, when half of 330km was a long, long way. There would have been comfortable beds, bar-room banter and booze. It seems there may have even been pantomimes. [...]
