Supporting startups in Nigeria

From Official Google Africa Blog Wed Jul 23 2014, 10:18:00

Accelerator programs have become essential to the continued expansion of Africa's tech startup ecosystem in recent years. They have provided the platform for the nurturing of some of the continent's most successful start-ups like Jobberman and Cheki.ng. In addition to improving access to capital and funding, accelerator programs have provided Africa's aspiring tech entrepreneurs with access to the mentoring and training required for successfully launching new businesses.

This is why we have supported the launch of 440, a new accelerator program aimed at creating an early stage fund and accelerator for mobile web startups in Nigeria. 440, an initiative of 88MPH and L5Lab, will provide a platform for Nigeria's startup community to get access to early stage funding, mentoring, and other forms of support.

Through the Google for Entrepreneurs umbrella, we have been supporting the 88MPH accelerator programs in Nairobi, Kenya, and Cape Town, South Africa, since 2012. We invite you to checkout some of the interesting stories of startups that have been empowered through these programs.
